Black-led nonprofits in Philadelphia have fewer cash reserves and are more dependent on government funding than white-led non-profits.
The Philadelphia Black Giving Circle (PBGC) aims to fund Black-led, Black-serving organizations, cultivate and support giving in the Black community.
PBGC raised $30,000 from about 60 members last year and awarded $5,000 grants to six organizations.
